Fermi kick-off meeting in Munich
On the 17th and 18th of October, as Transcrime we joined the in-person kick-off meeting of project FERMI – Fake nEws Risk MItigator in Munich.
This project is funded by the European Commission as part of the Horizon programme.
During these two-days event we had the chance to meet in person the 16 consortium partners that will be working with us for the next 3 years, under the coordination of the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration and Legal Affairs in Bavaria.
Project FERMI aims at analysing fake news and their sources, together with all the socioeconomic factors that may affect both their spreading and their effects on society, through a holistic and cross-disciplinary methodology.
Producing innovative technological developments, FERMI will also help European Police Authorities in detecting and monitoring how fake news spread, as well as putting in place security countermeasures. Finally, it will produce and diffuse specific training material for different stakeholders to counter the spread and limit the impact of fake news, while increasing digital trust.
Transcrime, leader of Work Package 3, will work on the creation of a tool for the prediction and analysis of offline crimes related to fake news.
